5 yr. plants, 6 to 8 inches high. Dark green needles are less than ½ inch, making this spruce one the best for bonsai. Not to be confused with Picea jezoensis. This Spruce, Picea glehnii is the one that’s used for bonsai in Japan often called Ezo or Yezo. Since the hard to find seed of glehnii start real small in early stages it’s economically unfavorable for US cultivation. I enjoy the challenge having a few for enthusiasts that want a great little tree.
